Dear Friend:-
Fifty years ago a little band of women, seeing the semi-servitude under which they were living, and believing that political enfranchisement would free them from that servitude, called a convention during which they demanded equal rights for women before the law. We all know the result of that effort and believe that womankind should be eternally grateful to those pioneers in this thought. We feel sure this Jubilee Year you will be anxious, not only to renew our membership in the N.-A.W.S.A., but to make a contribution to be applied towards the celebration of the anniversary of that convention of 1848. Thank you for your financial aid in the past, I remain,
Yours most truly,
Harriet Taylor Upton, Treasurer.
