The questions were: <ul><li>Are your women as devoted to house and home interest as formerly, and are they as good wives and mothers as before they voted?</li> <li>Is marriage less common or divorce more so than ten years ago?</li> <li>Do your best men object to women at the polls or in the office, and do the latter seek office to any great extent?</li> <li>Has there been any direct benefit or injury to your state from the woman element in politics, and if so, what are they?</li> </ul> Around 1903-1904, Susan B. Anthony wrote the governors of these states a letter asking for their thoughts on the results of woman suffrage in the individual states. Mary Bentley Thomas read the results of that inquiry during the National American Convention of 1904. It is possible that this document is related to that event. Thomas served as president of the Maryland Woman Suffrage Association from 1894 to 1904 and contributed the Maryland state chapter to volume four of the History of Woman Suffrage.
