Description
An account of the resource
The collection contains just under 200 volumes, many of them rare, by English and American authors from the 19th to the mid-20th centuries. Authors include Jane Addams, Susan B. Anthony, Carrie Chapman Catt, Abigail Scott Dunaway, Amelia Earhart, Millicent Garrett Fawcett, Emmeline Pankhurst, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Frances Willard, Victoria Woodhull, and many more influential reformers of the time. From works of fiction to fundraising cookbooks to personal accounts of the many social reform movements of the time, this collection provides an effective foundation to study the history of women’s equality in Europe and the United States.

Description
An account of the resource
Florence Kenyon Hayden Rector (Mrs. James Rector), the first licensed woman architect in Ohio and a member of the National Advisory Council of the National Woman's Party, makes this plea to suffragists to support the National Woman's Party and take action for the ratification of the federal suffrage amendment.
She gives reasons why every woman should support the National Woman's Party and urges state and local chairmen to call meetings, read the history, and ask for financial support. She highlights the fact that Columbus, Ohio, where she lives, raised $6,600 dollars.
This essay is unbound, printed by mimeograph. The Lewis collection includes two copies of this manuscript.

Buttons and Ribbons
Description
An account of the resource
The Lewis collection includes approximately 60 buttons, pins, and badges issued in the United States or in England. Buttons were a popular way to demonstrate support or opposition for the woman’s suffrage movement, raise money, and spark conversation about the campaign. Supporters wore their buttons to proclaim popular and recognizable slogans like “Votes for Women” or “Suffrage First.” Buttons and badges displayed the names of organizations and the official colors, including gold and black, yellow and blue, purple, white and green, or some other variation to highlight a particular campaign.
The collection also includes several anti-suffrage buttons issued by groups such as the Massachusetts Association Opposed to the Further Extension of Suffrage to Women, and a small group of satirical buttons created by the American Tobacco Company.

Dear Friend: -- Women are fast taking their places in the industrial and professional world, at which fact I greatly rejoice. Are you not acquainted with some such women in your vicinity? Can you not explain to them that fifty years ago a few of us began fighting the battle, which as made it possible for them to stand where they now do? Will you not ask them to show their gratitude by contributing at least one dollar for our Association? With these dollars we can push the work still further till all women inside the home, as well as outside, shall be free to do as their consciences dictate, rather than as custom demands. Yours sincerely, Susan B. Anthony
