Leaflet : Instructions for Election Day. [Circa 1915-1917]
Description
An account of the resource
Instructions for poll-watchers to help curb illegal corruption or maneuvers to change the results of the election. The flier provides detailed instructions and logistics for being a watcher.
This leaflet is specific to the woman suffrage amendment but does not provide a state or year. It is most likely this flier is from New York in either the 1915 or 1917 election when the woman suffrage amendment was voted on. It is also possible this was distributed by the Honest Ballot Association, which taught classes to women who served as poll-watchers leading up to the New York elections.

Buttons and Ribbons
Description
An account of the resource
The Lewis collection includes approximately 60 buttons, pins, and badges issued in the United States or in England. Buttons were a popular way to demonstrate support or opposition for the woman’s suffrage movement, raise money, and spark conversation about the campaign. Supporters wore their buttons to proclaim popular and recognizable slogans like “Votes for Women” or “Suffrage First.” Buttons and badges displayed the names of organizations and the official colors, including gold and black, yellow and blue, purple, white and green, or some other variation to highlight a particular campaign.
The collection also includes several anti-suffrage buttons issued by groups such as the Massachusetts Association Opposed to the Further Extension of Suffrage to Women, and a small group of satirical buttons created by the American Tobacco Company.

Description
An account of the resource
The collection of more than 250 postcards and stamps demonstrates the popularity of this medium and the types of arguments both for and against suffrage. The cards illustrate the perceived threat to traditional gender roles, the growing violence of the suffrage movement primarily in England, and the way in which women were mobilizing to challenge conventional political and social responsibilities. The collection also includes a selection of printed photographic postcards distributed after the March 3, 1913 parade in Washington, D.C., as well as a series of photo cards published by the Women’s Social and Political Union and the Women’s Freedom League to highlight their officers.
