Title
Ceramic inkwell figurine : Votes for Women "Virago." [1909]
Description
This was part of a set titled "Virago & Baby" created after the Women's Social and Political Union attempted to storm the House of Commons in 1908.
The "Virago" is an old woman standing with her arms tightly crossed and eyes closed. The slogan "Votes for Women" is incised in her apron. She is wearing a dark blue skirt, brown around the bottom, and a dark blue apron.
The slogan on the apron is significantly faded. The hinge is in the middle but the top is now separate from the bottom. This set does not include the "Baby,"
