Postcards and Stamps
Description
An account of the resource
The collection of more than 250 postcards and stamps demonstrates the popularity of this medium and the types of arguments both for and against suffrage. The cards illustrate the perceived threat to traditional gender roles, the growing violence of the suffrage movement primarily in England, and the way in which women were mobilizing to challenge conventional political and social responsibilities. The collection also includes a selection of printed photographic postcards distributed after the March 3, 1913 parade in Washington, D.C., as well as a series of photo cards published by the Women’s Social and Political Union and the Women’s Freedom League to highlight their officers.

Description
An account of the resource
Discusses the results of the 1912 election in Michigan, when the woman suffrage amendment was defeated, and the reasons for this result. According to the information provided, the amendment passed, but was nullified by "political manipulation" and there is a list some of the "irregularities" that were found. The verso provides a list of arguments made by "bad people" against woman suffrage, and includes "the gambler", "the grafter", "the employer of child labor", "the white slave trafficker", and more.
Woman suffrage was defeated again in the 1913 election. Michigan women were granted the right to vote in presidential elections in 1917 and in 1918, Michigan voters approved the state constitutional amendment granting suffrage to Michigan women.

Description
An account of the resource
Letter to the editor of the New York times by author identified only as "E.S.C." The author argues that if granted the right to vote, women would not use it and it would only cause them physical discomfort. He or she also says that women's votes will do nothing to improve conditions in the country because women would most likely vote the same way as their husbands or fathers.
The letter was reprinted by the Albany Anti-Suffrage Association, more formally referred to as the Women's Anti-Suffrage Association of the Third Judicial District of the State of New York.

Description
An account of the resource
Using excerpts from a pro-suffrage speech by Congressman Edward T. Taylor, of Colorado, where women were granted full suffrage in 1893, he answers common questions about the impact of woman suffrage in his state. These issues include whether or not husband and wife vote alike, if the criminal vote was doubled, if bad women vote, if it increase corruption in politics, and whether woman suffrage had done any good in the state.
The Empire State Campaign Committee was a coalition of organizations, including the Women's Suffrage Party, the Women's Suffrage Association, the Women's Political Union and other similar organizations, headed by Carrie Chapman Catt. It was created to bring New York women together in support of the state woman suffrage amendment. The New York referendum was defeated in 1915 but passed two years later in November 1917.
